IQ+ Case Study
Data Intelligence for Life Sciences SMEs: Supply Chain Tune-up

The company, headquartered in London (United Kingdom), with over 250 FTEs and revenues exceeding GBP 30M, is a leading Manufacturer and Exporter of Natural Health products to over 30 countries. Due to a rationalization of global supply chain activities and manufacturing sites, the organization successfully managed the integration of inbound and outbound flows across suppliers in Europe and customers worldwide. The key challenge was to maintain a healthy production capacity with high global demand while ensure the optimization of physical flows across borders with related informational requirements.

The Supply Chain Challenges: Growth increases Complexity.

The four pillars of supply chain performance were to be addressed as quickly as possible and at the lowest cost. The 6 pillars were: Stock availability, logistics agility, supply chain customer experience, costs & economics. Back-orders due to inefficient alignment between manufacturing and demand as well as slow cross-department communication, were a key challenge in the way the business was planning its growth phase for the next 5 years. Agility, in the way the company was manufacturing & delivering products to markets globally was under the scrutiny of senior management. Lastly, customer experience and operational costs were 2 further elements to address and optimize, both for the present and for the foreseeable future.

IQ2: Process-Driven in Operations

Our operational mindset is ingrained in everything we do. We bring a strong focus in supply chain and logistics to organizations that are both growth-driven as well as export-focused. We believe supply chains are the engine that propel organizational growth. One of the key criteria for developing a smarter supply chain is the time it costs to 'sit' on materials so increasing the speed of transactions is paramount. Time x Cost = Reduced Profit.

Key Takeaways.

With a manufacturing footprint of both in-house production facilities (for key product lines with high demand) as well as outsourced manufacturing (CDMO) for specialized products (with lower demand but still pivotal to the growth of the business), the business managed a complex supply chain with various manufacturing points of supply across an extended ecosystem.
